Given it's in Austria, it's clear what the sign means: if you are chased by someone on red skis in the hotel, break through into Narnia to escape.

I love that anyone with an eraser could erase the drawing and change the visual to state that in case of fire, occupants should use the axe to escape from, say, the bathroom mirror...
