(I wrote the above from the iphone itself, but really, it's tough to do more than write one or two sentences on that little screen. I'm shocked at how this danged phone makes me so happy.)
I don't know if it's the sound effects or the expression on the stuffed mouse, but I laugh every single time.
I just sat down to start figuring out what to get for everyone and Jen's not on my list.
The idea of officially grieving for a year or at the very least, expecting to grieve for a year, is so true and necessary. The year of events and holidays and birthdays is hard and sad and tough. Her birthdays is coming up too.
2009 can not come soon enough. The grief will never end, just change, but there is something about getting out of this horrible year that makes me feel better.
When you are married to a Frey, particularly one from the Metroplex in Texas, you have to know you will be watching Cowboys football most weekends. Today is more than just a Cowboys game. Today is a double header Frey Rivalry day. Freyvalry, if you will. (Okay, you don't have to). Cowboys vs. Seattle Seahawks (where Kurt's brother lives) and later, U of Texas (Hook 'em horns!) vs. Texas A&M (Gig 'em Aggies!). Kurt and his mom both attended UT (Y'all Fight!) and Kurt's bro went to A&M. See how it is? In between we are going to eat at a nearby restaurant. So who wins? ME!
While the Cowboys have been kicking Seahawk tail, I have been making a new blog. Check it!
Safety Graphic Fun
It's a daily dose of Safety Graphics. I love me some safety graphics, they are so brutal and kooky. I want to know who makes these wacky things.
Off for dinner soon.
I hope your holidays are full of love and family and friends and pumpkin pie.
This is one of the hottest old skool unrequited love scenes evar!
Seriously, Yul Brynner was H O T.

Nobody loves a geek as much as a fellow geek.
All that comfort eating is paying off just the way you would expect. I've put on a few pounds. Funny how that works after not exercising either...I'm slowly working my way back to a routine of wii fit and walking.
It's Monday and it's a short week. Thank the gods.
I was thinking about "small kid time" this weekend, flashing back to a memory from when we
lived at 164. Quick explanation: When we were kids we learned our addresses so I still remember 5641 (it was 5641, wasn't it? Mom? Dor?) Kalanianiole Hiway and then the 2nd house I lived in, 164 Kalalau street. Now, instead of referring to the streets we lived on, we say "Remember at 164 when..." So when we lived at 164 I remember having a baby sitter over, a teenaged girl with long blonde hair. She got her leg stuck in these old school desk/chair combo things we had. She couldn't get out and there were no parents around so someone called the fire department. The memory is so vivid of those big men in their big hats in our playroom as we all stood around. What is not so vivid is how they got her leg unstuck. But oh well. Another vivid memory from 164 was that our neighbor a few houses down had their garage struck by lightning. After the storm was over, we went to their house and there was a huge hole in the eaves. That was pretty freaky to a 4-5 year old. One easter, we had an easer egg hunt in the yard and patio, all four of us kids running around collecting eggs and candies. The next day, Jen, Dor and Alicia were at school and mom showed me a stash of candies that had not been found the day before: She lifted the small round cover to the Komodo (bbq grill) and there were three brightly colored foil wrapped chocolate eggs. I felt so special that mom had shown me this secret.
I'm sitting at my desk, Pandora* is playing a lovely mix of classical music which is putting me in a very relaxed mood. Looking out my window is not a great view, but I can see the Culver City hills and blue sky with some wispy clouds. There is a hum of activity outside my open office door; digital artists talking to each other, the "wheesh-wheesh" sound of a production assistant using a paper cutter, someone steaming milk in the kitchen for an afternoon latte. I just need the neck/shoulder massage person** to come along and all will be right with the world.
*Everytime I hear/read/say the word "Pandora" I know I could call my mom and make her laugh simply by saying "I knew a girl in school called Pandora. Never got into her box though." Mom and I love our "Notting Hill."
**There is no such person, I just keep hoping one will show up.
My day, that is. I needed happy happy non-human mood-lifting action this week and it just keeps coming. First I found this awesome video of a penguin escaping killer whales on Neatorama:
You know what they say -- Dog is my Co-Pilot...
Then there is this one, also from Neatorama, of a cat riding a Roomba. Mostly I love how his tail leaves a trail of cat hair behind the vacuum. Cats are awesome.
But then dogs can be just great. Take Ranger here, she cohabitates with my friend Will. I can't not smile and feel good watching Ranger be a D O G!
