Funny Links

I've slapped these all up on Facebook but thought I would collect them here as well.

The other day I had to explain to a big time Hollywood director what a "meme" was. Here's a great example of one that makes me giggle:

Then there was this movie trailer for the (thank goodness) direct to DVD movie:

Along came Awkward Family Photos followed not long after by Olin Mills Awesomeness. (Thanks Sarah!)

And last but never ever least is my personal all time internet favorite:

Who isn't always up for some Fluffy Mackerel Pudding? Filed under "Convenience Fish" of course. (Where else?)

Enjoy!

Weigh In Wednesday

Today's number is 188! Very pleased to be down another pound since last week and down a total of 5 after 2 and a half weeks. The eating has been consistent with no dairy, no meat and super whole grain everything. I'm eating tons of carrots as my snacks and it reminds me of the summer between freshman and sophomore year of college. I had joined the crew team and was getting into shape, but still had a long way to go. That summer at home on Maui I joined an aerobics class and went consistently 3 days a week plus running two days a week. I drank mostly water (a first for me) and ate tons of carrots. When I got back to school that fall, I turned some heads. It was the first time I really felt attractive, dare I say pretty.

Looking forward to more pounds gone!

Sunflowers and Broccoli

Inspired by Will's post about his sunflower seedlings coming up, I thought I'd do a quick update on our back 40 (40 square inches). The broccoli is coming in nicely and the sunflower are springing up. The largest ones on the left, closest to the wall are volunteers from last year! Nice to have them back.

They grew about 7 or 8 feet and I could see the lovely flowers outside our kitchen windows and I look forward to seeing them again.

Weigh In Wednesday

Today's number is 189! Woo hoo, broke into those next digits! Super pleased with my progress. I have been eating 95% from the Engine 2 book, making lots of good recipes that I like and will make again with minor adjustments (no, I don't mean adding cheese!). I have been snacking on apples or carrots during the day or edamame. When I really get jonesing for something like a candy bar or chips, I'll go get a diet coke instead. Twice here at work people see me with a diet coke and they say, completely out of the blue "why do you drink diet coke? Just drink water!" I just want to say, shut it!  I drink plenty of water.

Nevermind all them, the weight is coming down and I'm not feeling in anyway deprived. Had a good sized bowl of whole wheat pasta and mushroom sauce. Lots of balsamic vinegar and garlic. It needed more liquid and that is something I'll try again, but otherwise not too bad!

I'm keeping up the good work!

Eiffel Tower Earrings

Et1b The first job I had as a VFX Production Coordinator was tough. I was learning a whole pile of new stuff and the pressure was tremendous. My reward was to be my second backpacking trip through Europe. (1992) I was saving my money and making plans, buying books, writing letters, etc. But there was about 8 months to go before the job was done and I could set out.

There were days when I cried myself to sleep because I dreaded work so much. And on  the days I could barely get myself into work or knew that the day would be brutal, I wore my Eiffel Tower earrings. They were like my calming talisman against the shitty day or angry boss. They reminded me that soon this project would come to an end and I would be getting on a plane to Paris. I just about wore those earrings to dust.

I wish I had a similar talisman on my current job. But at least this job is over in about seven weeks, not seven months. It's not nearly as bad, but whew, there are DAYS.

Feeling A Bit Behind!

Upon returning from our trip, work got BUSY. I got more added to my plate and am working longer hours, plus having to work over this last weekend. The extra income is good and it's only for another week or so, but dang it makes time fly. And time is something I need much more of!

I barely kept up with Safety Graphic Fun last week, posting the night before or first thing in the morning. I'm usually a week or so ahead. Then Hot Dog Death March is in six weeks. SIX WEEKS! Gotta get moving on that but it will be tough to get rocking this week. Maybe Kurt can help...

Then I want to post all kinds of good photos from our trip, but have barely had time to go through photos, etc. All very high class problems, I know.

Monday Monday!

Freybread

When we were at Four Corners, which is Navajo land, we bought some frybread from a guy in a food stall there. Super nice, we chatted while our bread fried. We found it delicious but after a 2nd piece that night at dinner decided that Frybread was not something we could eat again for a long time.

CHOMP!

The next morning we woke up pre-dawn to watch sunrise from our balcony at Monument Valley. Kurt was cold.
