Weigh in Wednesday on Friday (Update!)

Piggyonscale! Oh I am STOKED today!

I weighed in at 180 which makes me 12 pounds down and only 13 to go. Almost halfway to my goal and I am so pleased.

Even better -- EVEN BETTER!

I tried on ALL of my size 12 jeans today (there are 3) and THEY ALL FIT! They may be a *touch* snug, but not unwearable at all.

JOY!

My 14s are all on their last legs, as I would NOT buy new size 14 jeans but would work to get into all the size 12s I have. And I have.

I'm on the verge of feeling skinnier, but still not there yet. When I hit 175 I will feel that way, I know it.

I've been eating better (well, tough to eat super well when we had a 24 hour blog-a-thon at Canter's last weekend) and will continue to do so over the weekend so that I can be at 179 on my official weigh in day next week.

I'm seriously pleased and will not be resting on my laurels!

UPDATE: Tried on my wedding dress. It almost fit. 5-7 more pounds for that one. Kurt was all goofy smiley when I walked in to see if he could zip it. Fun to put it on again!

And yes, I'd be happy to show you a wedding photo!

Wee Frog

Weeks ago (WEEKS!) my friend Helen and I were chatting online. We worked together on That Project and became good friends. She's an amazing photographer. During that chat we were sending each other photos of where we live and family and other fun misc stuff. Then she sent me this awesome photo:

Weefrog

I promised to post it on my blog. And I failed miserably until today when she asked if I had. My only excuse is that I've been so distracted with all the writing. That's a good thing, right??

So here is Helen's Wee Frog in all it's amphibious glory.

I love the wee fellow!

Infant CPR and First Aid: Piles of Babies!

Saturday was our CPR and First Aid class. Learning CPR (adults, kids and infants) is pretty amazing in that it is so simple. I hope I never get to use it. Aside from the physical lesson, we learned that if someone needs CPR it means they are probably already technically dead. You only give CPR if they aren't breathing and there is no pulse.

No breathing + No pulse = Dead

Doing CPR only keeps the blood pumping until paramedics (or other help) arrive to use a defibrillator (or drugs) and potentially start their heart again. So don't feel bad if you break a rib.

During the First Aid part, I was glad to know I already knew a lot of stuff. Still learned plenty though. We'll have to take refresher courses at some point.

After class it was time to stack the babies and put them away.

Weigh in Wednesday

Hedgehog fat 1 Woo hoo!

Weighed in at 181-even today. Down another pound from last week and down 11 overall. I had been a bit stuck in "ten pounds down" plateau land. I was congratulating myself for about two weeks for getting ten off, conveniently forgetting that there were 15 more to go. Now I've broken past the ten and am looking forward to the 170s next week.

I'm highly motivated and feeling great. My pants are getting looser and looser. I'm almost ready to try on some of my smaller jeans, but I might wait till next week. Again, I'm not feeling skinnier yet, but I know I am getting there.

I'm considering running again when I get to about 175...

My hair is getting longer and while it's not a bother now, if I don't get to my goal of losing 25 pounds by September, I'm going to be all pony-tail all the time and never blow dryingl.  Must be able to cut my hair before it gets way too hot.

PS Love me some plump hedgehog!

Six Weeks Later: How Am I Doing?

Okay, in all honesty, I lost count of which of the six weeks I'm in. I could go back and figure it out but I'm too busy! I do know that I'm moving forward well and that is key.

Let's run it down!

WRITING:

As you know I'm currently in Rewrite Frenzy for the month of May. I will be giving the feature script to Kurt to read this week for some feedback on my rough rough rough draft. Then my goal is to revise and give it to the other two members of our group to read before the end of May.

The other writing project, the spec tv series, is coming along great and we are going to be pitching it in front of actual people within a month or so.

I'm so excited and overjoyed about being in a major creative mode that it's hard to remember that I have to also be looking for some paying work soon!

The SGF book proposal has fallen down the list. I'm just focusing on keeping the site going and entertaining people with my snarky comments. That will have to do for now.

HEALTH:

I've lost ten pounds and am on my way to losing 25. I'm very pleased with the progress, though I've stalled a tiny bit here at ten. I'm breaking on past it this week and will do an official weigh in post later on.

I've not been exercising as much -- simply choosing to stay in and write rather than go out and walk or do the Wii fit. I will get back to it, no doubt. Since the weight is coming off, I'm not as concerned about exercising because, funny thing, when I STOP EATING SO MUCH, I lose weight.

VOLUNTEERISM:

April got away from me for volunteering so I'm doubling up in May. I helped a friend host a charity party on May 1st. We collected over 3000 diapers for Help A Mother Out -- the charity that collects and distributes diapers to poor and homeless families. (Diapers and wipes are not covered under food stamps and WIC.) That was a fun and really easy way to volunteer my time. It was also quite satisfying to collect so many needed diapers.

This coming weekend is the Metblogs Blog-A-Thon at Canter's Deli. I decided to make it an event to raise money and canned food for the LA Foodbank (where I volunteered in March). I've been working with the Foodbank to get collection boxes and posters as well as telling people all about the event. I'm hoping we raise over $1000 in cash and 200 pounds of canned food. I'll also be at the blog-a-thon for two separate shifts. I'm looking forward to it and I hope you stop by.

Those are the three major areas I'm focused on for 2010. So far so good!

Donut Divas

People ask me what it's like to be a blogger. "Sometimes," I say, "there is food involved."

Remember last year? Hot Dog Death March?

That was cool.

This year is Donut Summit

It's only too bad we couldn't shellac these headdresses to wear on the day...

Seeing Great Friends

I've mentioned before how much I loved high school. I know, I know, I must be insane. Nope. Just went to an awesome high school! Part of what made it awesome were all the amazing teachers I got to know. Two of them are Lance and Ellen. They were in town for a nephew's graduation from LMU (my alma mater) and so I met them for breakfast today. Wonderful to catch up and I wished we had three more hours!

They are just exactly the same as I remember them, funny and full of life and laughter and great stories. I can't believe it's been so many years since I've seen them! I hope we get to see each other again before another decade or two pass by.

This photo is a bit washed out but I just want to post it with and not try and fuss with it!

Weigh in Wednesday

TigeronscaleToday I weighed in at 182!

I started at 192 about nine weeks ago, so I'm now down 10 pounds. almost halfway there! I am pleased, but will be even more pleased when I'm in the 170s. I was plateauing a bit for the last few weeks, and while it was good to see that I could maintain, it's not time to maintain yet.

I can tell I'm a bit lighter, but I don't feel "skinnier" yet. I actually just feel less squishy. I will feel skinnier when I start wearing my size 12 clothes. There are cute skirts and jeans that are just waiting for me to get there. And I'll get there soon!

Go get 'em tiger!
