Catching Up With The Harpster

Okay, I've become that mom that only posts pictures about her daughter. Oh well. I find I have so many things I want to blog about but then there is so much other fun stuff to do! Music class, swimming lessons (see below) and meetings with high powered producers to discuss my scripts. Oh that last one is just me, BTW, Harper stayed home.

Though lately Harper seems to be needing to have meetings. This morning she brought all these things to breakfast. So we had a breakfast meeting. Really hard to get Tigger to sit still. But Tiggers *are* wonderful things.

Last night Harper helped at TJ's. She always wants to lift the milk.

And today was FIRST SWIMMING LESSON! So exciting. She cried (I had to stand behind the one way glass door so she would focus on the teacher). It was tough but then Harper is amazing. She hardly cries. She would get a big sad face and cry a little but then look up at the inflatable dolls and point and reach for them. What a nice girl. Can't wait for more lessons. We'll go back and practice on our own later this week. The little swim cap just slays me. Thomas is a wonderful teacher.

The White House Won't Leave Me Alone!

Yesterday Mom and I met a friend of hers in Pasadena for lunch. Then we drove around looking at all the beautiful houses in San Marino and I slammed on the brakes when we drove by this:

WhiteHouseInLA

HOLY CRAP IT'S A MINIATURE WHITE HOUSE! Okay, not an exact replica, but close enough! I mean look at the real thing:

Just needs a big limo in front and 3 blackhawks crashing around it...

Yeesh, I just can't get away from the place. Not only is the White House big, but it is apparently everywhere.

Music Class Continues

We've been to three classes now and Harper is getting better at jumping in. In the previous classes when they bring out the instruments for the kids to play with the teachers, she is not interested in getting close. However...at this last class she did actually touch the snare on the snare drum that the teacher held! Maybe she just likes the drums best...maybe I have a Tre Cool on my hands. Awesome.

No matter what, Harper likes the bubbles that end each class. It's the first thing she points to every time we walk in.

Last week we played the keytar (!!!!!!) and the electric bass guitar. I couldn't get a good picture of the keytar, sadly, but I did want so much for Harper to brave trying the bass so that I could show Dor how Harper is a girl after Dor's own heart, but no luck. This is as close as we got:

By the way, this particular model of guitar? "Destroyer". HA!

Aquarium Day!

We took Harper to the Aquarium of the Pacific yesterday. Her favorite spot of all was the splashy fountains. She just loves sprinklers and fountains and getting soaked. And she was soaked!

There aren't even any fish or animals in this little pool. It's part of the "Our LA Watershed" education section. Just a splashy pool to splash in! More fun for Harper.

We did actually see fish and seahorses and eels and lobsters. But she's 19 months so the attention span is short. We went to the penguins and they were cute.

And Harper liked standing next to the various statues. I love how she honks the beaks! But she did lean down and give a kiss to the little blue penguin statue. Sweet!

We went to the otter tank last and she seemed to enjoy them. Kurt was holding her and when a couple of otters swam by she made a big "oooooooh!!!!!!!!" Missed it with a camera, but damn it was cute.

Total time at Aquarium = about 75 minutes! But perfect. It was crowded and Harper is still young. Just grateful that the traffic was a snap. We got a family pass so we can pop down again for quick visits later on in the year. I want to go back soon!
