Things Harper Says

I Guess It Was Valentine's Day Yesterday

Aside from the funny thing I posted, there wasn't much to V Day yesterday. Still too weighed down by grief and distracted by the continuing work of cleaning out Kurt's mom's place to do anything. Harper made us laugh hard though, and that kind of love is worthy of a special day.

We were having a very low key morning (before more moving out) and watched a bunch of Thomas The Train. I wanted Harper to have a break and said, "Harper, let's go make a train in your room." She said, "I don't want to." I tried a few more ideas. Then she said, "Go make a train for me and I'll come and look at it and then I'll play with it."

Kurt and I looked at each other and burst out laughing. Then I had to write it down. To paraphrase the Thomas theme song "Harper is the cheeky one!"

Harper And The Women

As previously mentioned on this blog, Harper has a peculiar way of pronouncing "woman" - she says "yeoman." No biggie. She also say "lellow" instead of "yellow." Pretty cute, actually. But my new favorite thing that Harper says in regard to Wonder Woman. She had undies and a little tank top with the WW logo and LOVES to wear them suddenly, this week. But the ways she says it SLAYS me every time.

"Mama, I want to wear my Under Yeoman shirt!"

Under Yeoman! Awesome.

Another phrase she uses that is totes adorbs to me is "little minute." As in, "Mama, can I watch tv just for a little minute?"

Just recording this information here before three weeks go by and I've forgotten all about these two things.

Harper And Yeoman Rand

GraceLeeWhitney_as_RandAs Harper grows, her language skills improve. But for now I enjoy her inability to pronounce things. Especially this one thing. She has a hard time saying the "w" in "woman." Instead it comes out sounding like "yeoman." And EVERY SINGLE TIME she says it, I think of Yeoman Janice Rand.

My god, look at that hair! I hope there were robots in the future to do all that weaving. Or is it just a fancy, hairy hat?

"Mama, what's that yeoman doing?"

"Why I think she's fending off a drugged, horny Captain Kirk, sweetheart."

Other funny things she says are conversations like "Mama, do you want to have some juice?" "Yes Harper, I do." "Well then, have some!"

And she calls me Mama (most of the time) and calls Kurt Papa. But in the last week she has started calling him "Pops." As in "I want a treat, Pops!" I feel like I'm in a 1920's movie sometimes with a scene stealing moppet who looks suspiciously like Shirley Temple.

I love every minute of it and I love every new thing she comes up with!
