"Are people out there racing the closing gates like they do to beat trains at a crossing?"

I will answer your question - YES. In this case of the sign image I sent you, there are two children that "race the gate".
Unfortunately they are not tall enough, that if the gate were to close on them, it would look nothing like that. The gate graphic needs to be moved up to the head level.

those warnings are based on tragedies.

my friend's young cousin died in one of those gates. she was 12 or 13, sweet lovely girl. well to do family with a gated home. i think she may have been wearing roller skates, and had darted out of the gate many times. she clearly struggled to free herself but was crushed to death. devastating to the family. those warnings are based on real tragedies.


Yes they are, that's how they practice to race the trains!:)
